Elan Impression 344 wins European Yacht of the Year 2006

The winners of the 2006 European Yacht of the Year* were announced on the opening day of the Düsseldorf Boat Show, with the Elan Impression 344 winning in the under 10m category.

As a central part of the judging, the Jury had extensive sea trials and they particularly commented on the spacious interior, exterior design, easy handling and very good quality of the Elan Impression 344.

As with the other models in the Impression range, the Impression 344 offers a generous and innovative interior, semi-deck salon styling with panoramic windows, L shaped galley, large swim platform, and a spacious cockpit.

* Describing the Awards, Jochen Rieker, Editor of YACHT Magazine and Coordinator of European Yacht of the Year Award said: "One thing that is different from other awards: The European Yacht of the Year is not a beauty contest. In order to win, a boat needs to do well in a number of set criteria such as sail performance, comfort, build quality, value for money, innovation and design. But what counts more than anything else is performance at sea.

The Jury carries out two in-depth sea trials - one in Southampton, one in Barcelona - that last 3 to 4 days and include some of the trickiest conditions for testing. Yes, it is the most difficult award to win today. But it is also the most meaningful by far."
