Lagoon introduces new 40 & 50

Two brand new models are to join the comprehensive line-up of Lagoon sailing catamarans this Fall, the Lagoon 40 and the Lagoon 50.

Lagoon 40

The new Lagoon 40 will offer a combination of the best elements of the current Lagoon 39 and 400 models:

  • rig moved aft for ease of handling and improved performance

  • self-tacking jib for easy maneuvering

  • substantial volume in both cockpit and salon

  • 3-cabin and 4-cabin layouts

The cockpit, in particular, is reminiscent of the Lagoon 42, with the entire area from the top step of the transoms through to the main salon all on one level, connecting all areas into one large and open living space.

Lagoon 50

Filling out the range between the current Lagoon 450 and 52 models, the Lagoon 50 will also benefit from the latest Lagoon sail plan:

  • rig moved aft for ease of handling and improved performance from the square-top mainsail

  • self-tacking jib designed for easy maneuvering

And the Lagoon 50 will offer an incredible amount of space in a 50' yacht, with not only 3-cabin and 4-cabin layouts, but even an option for a 6-cabin version.

All the spaces on board will be open and bright, with picture windows in the hull-sides providing both a flood of natural light below as well as offering panoramic views.

As more information becomes available on these new models, we will add them to their individual sections on this website, links to which are here: Lagoon 40 model page and Lagoon 50 model page.

Please feel free to contact us for more details on either of these models.

Lagoon 42 voted SAIL Best Boat 2017

SAIL Magazine Best Boats 2017

Launched in January 2016, the Lagoon 42 has just won the prestigious "Best Multihull Cruising Boat 40 to 50ft" award in SAIL Magazine’s Best Boats annual awards.

Here are a couple of quotes from the SAIL Magazine review, particularly complimenting the Lagoon 42's light air performance:

"It’s not only a great addition to the product line in terms of length and price, it represents a fresh take on catamaran livability and ease of sailing, especially in light air."

"During a light-air test sail on Miami’s Biscayne Bay, the boat proved remarkably nimble for a cruising cat, especially given the trouble larger cats can have in these kinds of conditions."

Lagoon 42

Given the impressively high boat speeds we also know the Lagoon 42 is capable of (see our Lagoon 42 model page here for the video of the boat making 16 knots in 23 knots of wind), this clearly confirms the all-round abilities of this new model.

This is the third award won by the Lagoon 42 in 2016, voted best multihull by the 30,000 UK readers of "Sailing Today" and "Best Multihull Sailing Yacht" at the Asia Pacific Boating magazine awards.

And more awards may still be to come... The Lagoon 42 is among the 5 European Yacht Of The Year finalists, the announcement and award ceremony for which will take place in January 2017 during the Düsseldorf International Boat Show.

See our Lagoon 42 model page for all the details of this award-winning catamaran.

New Lagoon 42 on order for inventory

Lagoon 42

The Lagoon 42 is clearly a member of the "new Lagoon family" and features vertical bows, an apparently "freely-suspended" coachroof, the mast moved further aft, a high-aspect mainsail, a self-tacking jib and large foresails.

The new Lagoon 42 made its debut at the beginning of 2016 and by mid-year over 60 boats have been built.

This new model has created strong worldwide demand, and thus a long lead-time for new boats to be delivered.

Sound Yachting has therefore decided to place an order for an inventory Lagoon 42 now to insure that we have at least one of this popular model available for our customers for the summer 2017 season.

The Lagoon 42 we have on order is very well equipped. The specification and main factory options are as follows:

Lagoon 42
  • Owner version, 3 cabins, 3 heads

  • engine upgrade to 2 x 57HP Yanmar, with folding propellers

  • special leather upholstery in the main salon

  • cockpit floor and transoms finished in teak

  • composite bimini at helm with windscreen

  • flexible solar panels on cabin roof - 3 x 120W

  • Onan genset in sound-proof cocoon

  • air conditioning - in salon and all three cabins

  • QuietFlush electric toilets

  • full electronics - including 12" display, AIS, radar, autopilot with remote

This specification represents a complete "sailaway" package and includes delivery to our docks on the US east coast.

But please note that not only does this new Lagoon 42 sail fast (16kts under sail)...

Lagoon 42

...but they are selling fast, too, so this is likely to represent the only opportunity to secure one of these models for summer 2017.

You can see full details on the Lagoon 42 model on our website, including the brochure, images and additional video here.

New Lagoon flagship, the SEVENTY 7

Lagoon SEVENTY 7

The new flagship of the Lagoon sailing catamaran range will be the Lagoon SEVENTY 7.

From the studios of renowned naval architects Van Peteghem and Lauriot Prévost (VPLP), with exterior design by Patrick Le Quement and a luxurious interior from Nauta Design, the SEVENTY 7 is a genuine superyacht and yet is unmistakably a member of the Lagoon family.

She is both a yacht for entertaining guests, with a broad choice of layouts and custom interior possibilities, and a catamaran offering high performance under sail... or under power in the case of the motoryacht version to follow!

As with all Lagoons, the SEVENTY 7 offers freedom and safety when moving about on board, featuring a continuous promenade deck making it possible to walk all around the boat without ever changing level. Additionally, an aft platform extends from transom to transom, thus allowing guests and crew to cross from one side to the other without entering the cockpit.

Lagoon SEVENTY 7

But perhaps the most innovative feature of the SEVENTY 7 is the "Private Beach"...

For the first time on a sailing yacht, a hydraulically-operated hull door in the owner's suite opens to become a virtual private beach with direct access to the sea.

The owner’s suite also features a king bed, lounge, walk-in closet and a spacious bathroom.

Multiple configurations of cabins, galley location and crew quarters offer unrivaled versatility for any sailing program.

The SEVENTY 7 will have its world premiere at the autumn 2016 boat shows in Europe.
